Reclaim Your Life from the Pain of the Past

Trauma has a way of shaping how you move through the world. It can make you feel disconnected from yourself, uncertain in relationships, or stuck in patterns that no longer serve you. Maybe you’ve spent years pushing through, telling yourself it “wasn’t that bad” or that you should be over it by now. But trauma doesn’t just live in the past—it lingers in the nervous system, influencing thoughts, emotions, and reactions in ways that can feel frustrating, confusing, or even out of your control.

Healing is possible, and you don’t have to do it alone.

I help adolescents and adults in West Los Angeles and online across California work through the lasting effects of trauma in a way that feels safe, supportive, and empowering. My approach includes Brainspotting and the Trauma Resiliency Model (TRM)—modalities that allow for deep healing without requiring you to repeatedly talk about painful memories.

How Trauma Affects You

Trauma isn’t just about what happened—it’s about how it shaped the way you see yourself, your relationships, and your place in the world. Even if you don’t think of your experience as “trauma,” your body and mind may still be carrying its effects.

You might notice that you:

  • Struggle with trust—feeling unsure of others’ intentions, second-guessing yourself, or expecting to be let down.

  • Feel emotionally reactive or shut down—experiencing intense anger, fear, or sadness, or feeling completely numb and disconnected.

  • Are stuck in cycles of people-pleasing, perfectionism, or self-criticism—as if your worth depends on making others happy or never making mistakes.

  • Have trouble setting boundaries—feeling guilty for saying no or avoiding conflict at all costs.

  • Experience chronic anxiety or hypervigilance—constantly scanning for danger, feeling on edge, or struggling to relax.

  • Engage in self-sabotage or unhealthy coping mechanisms—turning to food, work, substances, or relationships to manage overwhelming emotions.

If any of this resonates, it’s not because something is wrong with you—it’s because your nervous system has adapted to keep you safe. Trauma isn’t a personal failing. It’s a survival response.

What Trauma Therapy Looks Like

Healing from trauma isn’t about “getting over it”—it’s about learning to work with your nervous system, so your past no longer controls your present. My approach is designed to help you:

  • Make sense of how your past still affects you. Trauma can shape the way you think, feel, and respond to the world—often in ways you may not even realize. Together, we’ll untangle old patterns and identify what’s no longer serving you.

  • Heal without having to relive painful memories. If talking about your trauma feels overwhelming, you’re not alone. My approach includes Brainspotting, a mind-body method that uses specific eye positions to access and process unresolved trauma. This technique combines bilateral sound and eye position, allowing deep healing without repeatedly talking about what happened.

  • Regulate your nervous system so you can feel safe in your own body. Trauma can leave you feeling stuck in cycles of anxiety, numbness, or emotional overwhelm. I incorporate the Trauma Resiliency Model (TRM), Mindfulness, and Mindful Self-Compassion, and Dialectic Behavioral Therapy (DBT) skills to help you build emotional balance, resilience, and a sense of inner safety.

  • Reconnect with yourself and your life. Healing isn’t just about reducing pain—it’s about reclaiming joy, connection, and confidence. As we work together, you’ll develop the tools to feel more present, at peace, and in control of your own story.

Healing happens at your own pace, and you won’t be expected to share or process anything before you’re ready.

“The thing that is really hard, and really amazing, is giving up on being perfect
and beginning the work of becoming yourself.”

~ Anna Quindlen

You Are More Than What Happened to You

Your trauma is part of your story, but it doesn’t have to be your whole story. Therapy can help you move forward with greater confidence, clarity, and self-compassion.
